Cap'n  Chard:   2 issues.  1.)  there is a CATALINA FORUM, for Catalina owners.  We would enjoy having you join us there!!  LOT'S of information, and friendly fellows to help solve just about any problem you may have, with your Catalina.

2.) When you idle-down, and temp goes upward, what degrees does your temp gauge display?  If engine water is HOT, check your thermostat, It MIGHT be not fully opening.  How old is your thermostat?  When engine is cold/cool, and you have time, pull thermostat, and place in boiling/warm water.  It should be----- fully open,----- in boiling (212 degrees)  water.

Again, come on over to the Catalina forum!!!!

Regards,  Fly Bridge  (Dan).
