Hi everyone. I am new to this aquasport forum but have been a member of main forum since 2009.
Hope to learn the good, bad and ugly about a 2000 275 explorer. I have owned a number of boats over the "decades". The last 3 have been a 25' Tiara I/0 for 17 years then a 1989 30' Searay weekender with twin 260's for 7 years and the latest one being a Hydrasports 230.
I moved from the Searay to the Hydrasports because my 9 year old son (I was 62 at that time) wanted to ski and tube. I love to fish so the Hydrasports was ok but my wife was spoiled by the searay especially the 11' beam. I am replacing the Hydrasport and was considering something more "meaty". Love the used Stamas but they had alot of wood encapsulated in glass for construction. I read one forum from an ex stamas worker who said "it took a tree to build a Stamas". Really never addicted to the Boston Whaler or the Grady Whites but always liked the Aquasport but I never owned one. The 275 explorer looks great but I have no knowledge about them. I am the type of owner that is quite DIY rather than paying a yard, and very meticulous in keeping everything in great condition. I don't want the costs associated with a beamy boat that needs to be stored in a boatyard but want a good riding OB that will stay in a marina during the season and only trailer to and from my house for winter storage.
Appreciate any advice on this model regarding construction, ride, type of gas tanks and tank accessibilty re: ethanol problems that are becoming an issue. Thanks to all, hoping I will be joining the Aquasport family.
