Hi Guys, i am new and excited to get started here with my new boat (1985 christ craft 266 scorpion, but i have this question, the boat is in fort lauderdale florida and i am in the ba)hamas, i will be riding it over the weekend of 18th may 2011 if the weather is good.

but after the summer is over i want to remove the single 5.7L chevy engine and install a 6.5gm diesel, can anyone give me some inputs or suggestions on what the advantage and disadvantages would be?

much thanks in advance guys

Hi Bigpine,

Botton line is cost. For a crated (new) diesel w/new fuel tank, controls and guages: around $30K, if you're a gearhead. A 266's market value is $10K give or take.   So. This would need to not be about money, which happens- but not often. If you did it, there would be other $$$ spent too...of the unplanned sort. So again, this would need to not be about money. If you actually did it, it would be a awesome boat....but, consider all angles carefully...we're talking $60k... easy.

Recommend R&R of existing setup at 1/3 the cost or less...maybe a lot less.

Hope you made it to the mainland ok! That route is not an open boat type of trip!

best, diver

Hi Bigpine,

Sorry for laying it down so...straightforward. The hugeness of this type of project is probably best served by offering a sisinct, down to earth prospective.

All the best! Roy
