I'm having an issue with the seawater pump for the AC and heat. The information I'm looking for is the location of the relay box that turns on the sea water pump. The AC units are Marine Air and are orginal I figure. They still have the rotary controls.  I know I've seen the relay box at one time. The first mate and myself bought Nikawa II as a project. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If anbody ever buys a boat the still has points and condensers. Upgrade to electronic ignition. That was the best money ever spent

Hello Captain Dave,

I don't have the same setup as you, but I can tell you what I have observed.  I hope this is helpful.

I have a Carver 3207, with a single aftermarket AC unit.  My relay to turn on the pump is on the AC unit itself.  I have a feeling it is common that the relay would be with the AC unit.  It would make sense as the control must also turn on the compressor.

Coincidentally, my neighbor also has a 3207, but has original AC, probably similar to your 3607.  He has two AC units with separate controls, but the pump is common to both units.  When either AC unit comes on, the same water flow runs - out the cente.r and out the aft - where the units are.  I always thought this was a little unusual as I thought there would be two separate water pumps - one for each unit, but I guess it makes sense.  This means to me that there is a relay on each of the AC units.  So, my guess is that the relay is on the AC unit.

I'm interested in how this comes out.

You are correct, electronic ignition is a huge improvement and one of the better investments.

I have a 1986 3607 aft cabin and I think the relays are in the cabinet underneath the galley sink all the way to the rear. Not really sure, because I can't fit that far back. Hope this helps and let me know.

 That is exactly where the relay box is mounted. I had to squrim my way in there.   The galley had to of been bulit around the relay box. Over all the systems I have worked on. The designers of the 3607 did a great job of having access for later repairs. Thanks for your reply!
