I've got a 2004 Doral Prestancia.  It's a platinum edition, and I believe they put a (bit better than standard) 13000 BTU a/c onboard.  WONDERFUL.

I think with air conditioners in mind, BIGGER is always better, because if you UNDER power the A/C, the unit will simply run, and run....and RUN.  Obviously draining power resources, and taking a LLLLLOOOONNNNGGGGG time to cool down.

Just a thought.

Casting off....!  Cheers

Capt. Tim

Thanks for the info. What size is your Prestancia? I'm looking
at a 9,000 btu AC but im thinking this may not be enough, as
you said. I really wanted to know what they put on my boat if
you got the AC option but Doral wont respond to my queries.
Anyway, I appreciate your advice. Thanks!

The Doral Prestancia we have is a 28 footer, (with a 4 foot swim platform.)  Perfect size.

I believe with the Platinum edition, they upgraded items such as teak trim, a/c etc.  If I can recall, I believe there was a mention in the manual that they had a standard 8,000 or 9,000 BTU A/C and it was upgraded to a 12,000 or 13,000 on this edition.  Gets really cold, pretty fast, but consider too, that we're talking about the Great White North (Canada) and not HOT, HUMID, Florida.

Again, my recommendation would be BIGGER is better.

Capt Tim

Thanks for the info!  I will probably go bigger but it is a small space under the dinette seat so not sure I can go too big.

Have a great summer!

Interesting.  If I recall, our's is below the V birth at the bow, but the insulated foil 'piping' runs underneath the seating in ours.  GOOD LUCK.  Tim
