The Californian is equipped with a rather loud and rude audio alarm which sounds when the engine is stopped and the ignition key is in the on position. If you drive from the flybridge as I do, when you turn the engines off the alarm sounds so you must run to the lower helm to turn the keys to the off position to silence the alarm. The same is the case if an engine stalls while underway.
We successfully modified this set up in the following way:
1. We replaced the alarms with red alarm lights on the helm dash [one for each engine next to the engine tach] on the flybridge helm and the lower helm.
2. we replaced the off-on/ignition switch with two, key off-on switches on the control panel at the lower helm. Then we installed a push button starter for each engine on the fly bridge and the lower helm.
All in all it was an easy, inexpensive conversion which resulted in 'no rude audio alarm' and the ability to start and stop each engine from the bridge and the lower helm.
