New guy to the forum here... I just recently purchased a 1989 Sea Ray Pachanga 27 with twin Mercruiser 350s - and I have several questions on the Vernalift water lift mufflers that it has. While I am familar with Sea Rays overall - currently owning and having owned several over the years - I am not familair with these mufflers. I need education on the how and why of how these water lift muffler work per se - I see them as providing a "muffling effect" of the thru hull exhaust pipes and providing back pressure. Also I am looking for more details on the care and winterizing of the mufflers, and also the normal servicing during normal use (if needed) , and long term use. I googled them, and found a link from Centek who makes them, but I was wondering why Sea Ray used them on the Pachanga and if they are used on other Sea Ray boats. They do have a wonderful throaty sound but are not loud as to attract the local game wardens who are not real happy with open thru hull exhaust that some folks run. They remind me of the old Thrush or Cherry Bomb mufflers we ran on our old cars back in the day. Thanks in advance -
