Hi fellow Uniflite Owners,
Any tips on changing out the Gauges?
the previous owner changed out the engines.  No I have no hour meeter and am thinking of changing the Tach or learning what wire to reconnect.

Hoping for tips.

I have a 1983 32 SS.  Diesel.

Hello Keith,

I have a 1984 42 SE II (DCMY).  I asked Teleflex about my tachs and was told that they were not driven by the alternators.  Teleflex was wrong!  So as of now I haven't changed anything.  I guess one of the answers depends on what drives your tachs.  I have 8.2L Detroit Diesels, but the wiring diagram indicates that my boat could have had Caterpillars.  The drawing shows a tach drive that come from an engine-mounted sender.  Maybe that was with the Caterpillars.

Hour meters are wired into the ignitions wiring some how.  In the case of a diesel, they must be connected to some power that is ON when the engine is running.  I replaced the one on my genset, but I didn't have to invent anything there.
