I have just purchased a 1973 34' Uniflite sport fisherman with 100 gal. fuel tanks. Has anyone "easily" removed these long tanks? I am thinking I will have to cut the cockpit floor to pull them through and then re-fiberglass? 

 Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I am looking forward to following this thread.  I am currently looking at that very same model and was curious about how to do that very same thing. 

Where are you located, I am curious if you purchased your new boat in the Seattle area...I looked at one near Seattle and it looked as though the tanks would need to be replaced.

Dan,

We are in the Fraser Valley, B.C. and bought our Uniflite in Renton...yes, the Seattle area. I will replace the tanks since they are the original, and some rust is present. I am going to try POR 15 for the time being...a rust neutralizer. Supposed to stop the rust and prevent it from returning. I have not read any reviews from users.

Thanks for the reply, Gene. My tanks are also under the salon, and the floor is fiberglass. My best bet will be to cut the cockpit floor and remove each tank. Once each tank is out, I will check the rust condition and either POR 15 or replace. 

I have a window problem as well, but I'd better go start a new thread for that one.
