I have a 42' Californian LRC, built in 1977. It has twin 130hp Perkins diesel engines and the fuel tanks [4] hold 500 gal. It's sweet spot for best fuel burn is at 6 knots. At that speed I may burn 2 gal/hr. Consumption goes up geometrically as the speed increases, maybe double at 7.5 knots and more at 9 knots. Compared to sport fishers it is an extremely efficient and economical way to cruise. These are the original engines.
