I am a relative newbee to boating. I have a 2003 Sea Ray Sundeck with a Mercruiser 5.0 MPI engine. I can activate the trim switch on the throttle lever to lift the outdrive, however, how do I lift the outdrive further into the trailering position? I have tried to continue to push the trim switch on the throttle lever without any luck. Thanks.
There should be a "Rocker Type" button at the top of the Throttle/Shift Lever, that is for the tilt and trim. About half want down the handle should be a larger square button. Hold that in and the outdrive should raise to the Trailer Position. You can hear the motor change sounds when it is at the top.
Thanks for your answer. I do not see a larger square button on the throttle handle. I have the rocker switch on the top of the throttle lever and I can get the outdrive to tilt and trim when I move this switch. The only other button is a large round button at the pivot point of the throttle lever. However, I believe this is for disengaging the transmission so that I can rev the engine without the prop turning.
If you only have the rocker switch then all you have to do is lightly press the rocker switch down until it stops. Now lightly press it up, when the drive stops the 1st time that is the top of the running position. Now press it again harder when it stops the second time that is the top of the trailer position.
