Anybody know the resistance value of the fuel guages on the 500.  They are VDO guages and I want to convert the senders from the float type to electronic.  It wpuld be for the saddle tanks as the people who polished my fuel destroyed the floats.  Thanks in advance.

Hi Scottflys,

This is a rather old post so you probably already have the answer.  I'm not sure what you mean by a 500.  If it's a Constellation 500 the fuel gauge could be either a US or VDO type.  The former has a range of 240-33 ohms while the latter has a range of 10-180 ohms.  I haven't checked the fuel gauges but the temperature gauge is a US type so the fuel gauges probably are too.  You need to find the type number which should be 301-505 or 301-506 for the US gauge.  The VDO gauge would be  or 301-501 or 301-502.

The Constellation 500 has a very messy fuel gauge system because it has four tanks and uses different readout systems on the lower console and FB.  If you can't find the gauge numbers on your boat let me know.  I may be able to find them on mine.  Answer on the Constellation 500 site.
