I just got a Chris Craft 251 express I think. She needs some work. Where should I start. How do I know what motor and transmission I have? I have lots of ???.

Yup, Identifying the Mfg'r, model, year and serial # is the 1st step. The ID # is stamped into the right side of the transom at the rubrail.  You should be able to derive most basic info from that #. A close inspection for labels, stenceling etc on the engine(s) and transmission is good to do too.There are several knowlegable 251 owners on the 'Catalina' thread. A synopsis of your nautical experience, technical ability and what you plan to do with the boat will help those to help you.
