I have had a 87 St Tropez for about 10 years and really like the boat. I have had ongoing problems keeping the cabin door moving smoothly and easily. It currently takes a lot of force to open. In fact, my wife can't open it by herself. I have used silicone spray in the past on the bottom track. It helps some but not much. Does anyone have the secret for easy to open doors. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with this boat or door but it sounds like a sliding door? if so most sliding doors are hung by rollers at the top and the bottom track is just to keep them from swaying you may need to adjust the rollers up some to get the door from draging on bottom or replace the rollers. Hope this helps.

I don't own St Tropez, I posted that photo to help (us) figure out what your hatch problem is, I haven't looked into your hatch issue yet, But willing .

Mine is Bi-folding doors, Wood and Lexi tinted.

The Hatch on your St Tropez just slided on a track or does it have rollers ?

My first thought would be that the track is out of alignment and binding ,
Check clearances on bottom slide might be that it's plowing or such,
The top as well would bind too. If that not it let me know we will figure this out, no worries. Hey take a close-up photo of your slide or rollers if you can tht would help () me. Possibly someone should happen by here and have an a suggestion for ya as well.

My sliding cabin door is very heavy smoked plexiglass, I don't think it has any rollers. It definitely justs slides on a plastic support strip on the bottom. I'm not sure how the top of the door is designed. It's all hidden underneath the top cap of the door, which I have never taken loose to look at it. Looks like a big job which I just have not undertaken. I don't think the door is in a bind. It seems to open with the same force all the way across, it's just has a large amount of friction to overcome. I have cleaned the tracks top and bottom as best I can without taking the whole door assembly apart. Then I wipe the top and bottom glides with silicone sprayed onto a rag. This helps somewhat, but it's still not as easy to oprn as I would like.

I have the identical cabin door on my '87 Portofino.  Apparently, mine was replaced a few years before I bought it.  Mine was having a binding/chattering issue as well.  I cured it by spraying silicone on the tracks as well.  I sometimes wipe the excess off, but generally I just spray the tracks.  I only have to do this about 3x/yr.  It slides very nicely.

Maybe you could try just spraying it and not wiping it.  You may need more lube on the tracks.
