Dan,

I have the 280 and twin 4.3L's, I think your engins don't have to work as hard with the twins! But you have the up keep of two engins, but they will also bring give you more control and safety....

Right now I have my eye on one with twins,  but from what I'm gather here is the speed difference isn't any,  maybe the extra wieght from the twins will hurt  fuel consumtion.  I like the idea of twins myself.  Just wonder if there more reasons not to buy the twins other than because of double trouble.  Will this boat even do 40mph?

thanks

Dan

As far as speed goes the 280 is a bit heaver and has 10'8" beam, I run mine out of Southern Cal. out to the channel islands. Which means we carry a lot of gear 3 anchors, 100 gals of fuel, dingy with outboard, food and usually a crew of 4, when the ocean is calm I can get her up to 35mph... but if we are crossing in the afternoon when the white caps come up it is more like 25mph.

All this being said I do not run my engins wide open!
