Just bought a 2004 Prestancia !  Can't wait for delivery.

Naturally, I want to change the name.  The marina said they'd take the OLD name off for free, but to put on a new name, they're suggesting it would be in the neighbourhood of $ 275.00 .

I'm not sure if this is typically a good price or not.  We're literatally applying an EIGHT character name.  That's over $ 30 a letter.  Am I dreaming or could this be lower?  (I'm pretty sure this is the cost of BOTH the applique AND the labour.)

Tim

Go to the BoatUS web site. They have a graphics section and can make
the vinyl letters for you. It is a very easy do it yourself job to put them
on. I believe Overton.com can also make the graphic for you. Should
cost you less than $100.

Mike, thanks for the info !

Yeah, I got OTHER quotes and surprisingly the cost is a lot less !  (Frankly, I think the marina wanted to make BACK some of the dough they lost in 'negotiating' the boat deal....

Local sign shops can generally quote you a good price as well. Most have computer graphic programs and can get quite artistic for a relatively cheap price.

Putting them on yourself can save you $.

Thanks for the feedback Larry !

Yeah, I really can't explain why the outrageously inflated 'quote' from the Marina that sold me the boat...

Question:  Any 'prerequisite' about the location of the 'Hailfrom' notation...generally below the boat's name?

I've seen it immediately below the boat's name, and on others, I've seen it tucked to the right, just below the transom door.  (Looks a little odd, I guess...)

Opinion?

Tim

Unless you have the boat Documented there is no absolute need that you put anything about the hailing port. However, most would follow the directions from that process simply because it has become the standard.  I had trouble connecting with the site today because my online provider can be difficult, but I believe the address below will give you their restrictions as well as size requirements. Even with their restrictions you can pick any port you choose even if you never dock there!
