I have had to replace the engine coupler three times since 1999. Is this a Bayliner problem, a Mercruiser Bravo 2 problem or something I am doing that causes this? Thanks!
I own a 1999 Bayliner 2855 with the 7.4L engine. I had to replace the engine coupler due to corrosion (not a fun job). The boat sat for about 2 years before I bought it. I did some extensive research and found that there are 2 critical issues with the coupler. One is lubrication and the other is drive alignment. Since you had to replace three times, I am assuming it is an alignment problem. I am not an expert or mechanic but my coupler has been fine since replacement in 2006. I lubricate it every year and properly aligned it back in 2006 (another fun job).
