 I've just bought a 2004, 28' Doral Prestancia.  (I'm moving up in the world from a 25 foot Cobia bowrider...)

Right now, I'm going through tons of manuals, troubleshooting guides for the myriad systems.

Has anyone developed a 'handy-dandy' START UP CHECKLIST, which one can follow, to ensure everything has been followed, step by step, when preparing for departure, after a week's hard work back home?

Sure, I know about the 4-5 minutes of 'blower' usage regarding fumes and such, but what about the various switches, 'inlets being opened', and the like; for the engine, "gennie," hot water system, air cond, etc.?

It sure would make a handy reference tool (on a clipboard), for the first season or two...especially if my 'first mate' wishes to learn it as well.

Can anyone assist please?

Part of the fun of buying something new is learning all about it. What a better time to do that than in your recliner during a cold winters day.

Can't say Iv'e ever put it into writing. I know others have and you may find it with a search on Boat US other forum. Many systems will need some attention every time, such as making sure the plug is in before launching and not after!

Some air conditioners and generators will need the pumps primed and others will do it without help. This may simply be determined by where the thru hulls are mounted on your boat and you will soon learn what your boat needs there.

How often you change the outdrive oil or remove it for service should be spelled out in your drive manual, as it will for the engine/engines.

Don't start up the hotwater heater with an electric element when it is without water or you will be replacing the element very soon!

There may be shut offs for your tanks, there may not be! Someone elses list will not tell you that.
