Hello!  We bought our '79 hardtop 280 in 10/08 and have been searching for a 280 forum ever since.  Saw the letter in this month's Boat/US magazine re: 280s and the mags reply.  Finally!  I see I'm going to have to skim through 53 pages of posts to see what fits our problem child.  We live in a suburb of San Francisco but keep the boat in the Sacramento Delta, 100 miles away.  All the boats in the marina are in sheds, so weather is not a problem.

We were sailors on SF bay for 25 years in three different boats.  I wanted a challenge in our next boat so opted for a power boat.  And it's sure been a challenge, mechanically, operationally and financially!  And I thought sailboats were costly to own!!

A little tip about value:  280s in CA were selling in the 20s up until the market crash.  There was a very nice '79 281 that recently sold in our harbor for $3,500!

Am looking forward to participating in the forum.

Denis
