Can anyone tell me if the rub rails on a 1974 36' Uniflite are stainless or aluminum.  Mine have been painted and I don't want to scratch or damage anything trying to find out.  Thanks

Rub rails are stainless.

How were they painted?  It is difficult to effectively paint stainless.

Hi, Gene.  I am the third owner and there are sevral coats of paint on the rub rails.  If they are stainless, I wam going to consider removing the layers of paint ( a long and tendious process) and restoring the stainless.  I very much appreciate your response and your help. Take care

Chuck
