Topic: Hull Identification number

They are usally on the transom. Any ideas? It's a 31' uniflite command bridge. Did Uniflite use a different spot thanks __________________ Oliver Back to Top    Comogene "Seaman Recruit" Joined: June 08 2004 Posts: 8 Posted: July 03 2009 at 18:25 | IP Logged What year?  Early boats did not have HINs as the law requiring same did not come into existence until the mid-late 70's.   Frequently you will find the hull number marked behind the lower station, on drawers and on berths.  Typically it is the length, model and production number as mine is 36D166 (36 foot double cabin, #166). Gene Back to Top    BoatRDavid "Seaman" Joined: December 14 2006 Posts: 45 Posted: July 04 2009 at 11:37 | IP Logged My 1984 Double Cabin Uniflite is called: 42 II SE.  I'm not sure what the "II SE" means.  Anyway, in all the hidden places that Gene mentioned I find the designation, 42E130.  Being mine is an '84, I do have a formal HIN on the transom.  And, sure enough, 42E130, are the last charactors of the HIN.  So I feel that the idea of those hidden numbers do describe the hull of that particular boat. BTW, does anyone know what  "II SE" stands for? DavidO __________________ David M. Oates 42 Uniflite SE II, Adventure San Francisco Bay Area Back to Top    Comogene "Seaman Recruit" Joined: June 08 2004 Posts: 8 Posted: July 04 2009 at 19:03 | IP Logged David: If I recall correctly from a conversation that I had with a factory rep at the NY Boat Show,  in '84 they made a major change from previous models.  Both the 36 and 42 aft cabins were cored as opposed to solid fiberglass in the previous models.  At least on the 36, it chopped off some 8-10,000 lbs.  They also changed the color from a "blue" white to a "cream" white and I think that at least for the 36, they went from BBC (454s) to 350s.  There might have been some modification to the bottom configuration to get the boat to plain with the smaller engines. If my recollection is correct, I think they also eliminated the wet bar in the salon and reconfigured the aft head to add a tub in the area where they wet bar would have been.  So that is why they called them "IISE".  Distinguished them from the rest of us that have just old plain Uniflites.  Wasn't much later that they sold out the 36 and 42 hulls to Christ-Craft. There should be good history on the Uniflite site which will probably contradict everything I said. Gene Back to Top    BoatRDavid "Seaman" Joined: December 14 2006 Posts: 45 Posted: July 05 2009 at 12:57 | IP Logged Gene, Thanks for that information on my IISE.  The electrical diagram does specify the 36 also.  The interior is completely different than earlier 42s and I do have a tub in the aft head.  As you can see from the picture in my signature my '84 has portlights in the aft instead of sliding windows and there is no window in the galley.  Galley is on the STB rather than port.  I was told by the original owner that my particular hull was not cored because Uniflite was hearing of some  problems with the cored boats.  He also said that mine (hull 130) was the second to the last 42 that was made by Uniflite.  I have a friend with an '85 Crist Craft 48'.  It is almost identical to mine except for the cockpit (the extra 6 feet).
