To The "Carvers",

Looking for feedback regarding the purchase of a 1987 Carver, Mariner/Voyager.  Engines have 1800 hours.  The owner appears to have been good with maintenance.  Any general comments regarding the seaworthiness of the Carvers or general cost of maintenance?  Appreciate all the info we can get.  Also, what would be a fair price?  Thanks..

I have a 1987 Voyager 28 that I dearly love. Great boat! it all depends on how well they are cared for and maintained. Get a good thorough survey both hull and mechanical.

1800 hours may or may not mean anything depending on maintenance. On average though, these are pushing the envelope and will probably need rebuild in the not too distant future. But, a good compression test and leak down test can tell you a lot more.
