Hi all. Tried searching the forum hoping for an answer but didn't have any luck. Here is what I have going on:
1996 270 Sundance with a Kohler gas generator (model 4CZ23). The way they set this system up is weird but there is a small pump directly after the fuel/water seperator. It is a "Skinner Valve Division" model V5C72120 running 3PSI. I am guessing this is a prime pump/valve to pull fuel from the tank to feed the genset pump. This fuel valve has stopped working and is no longer feeding fuel to the genset.
Seemed simple enough, find a replacement, right? No such luck yet (unless any of you happen to know where to get one). So, moved to next best thing - an aftermarket electric fuel pump from "Fosset". It is a 1.5 to 4PSI model that is also 12VDC. Seemed like a great fix BUT, now the genset runs weird. It runs at normal RPM then seems to drop down while the controls on the genset then open carb up then returns to normal. This is a cyclical pattern about 2-3 seconds at a time. If I hold the carb butterfly arm steady, the genset seems to smooth out and run normal but I can feel the controls trying to open/close the carb in cycles.
Anyone have any ideas why it might do that? I am open to suggestions. Any help you can provide would be great!
Thanks, David
