This past weekend, our 2006 Carver Mariner developed what appears to be a fresh water (based on the ol' smell test) leak apparently from the head sink area behind the wall between the forward cabin head door and the hull above the sole  This flows under the carpet at the foot of the bed in the cabin.  There has been no rain.  The boat is in the slip with dockside water hose connected and on, not using the fresh water pressure pump.  I drained the fresh water tank to see if that could be contributing, but won’t know until next time on the boat. 

One possible symptom discovered during the draining of that tank was that the head sink did not drain quick enough to keep up with the volume of coming from the faucet.  It appeared to be free flowing from the through-hull outside the boat, but the sink filled up over a period of several minutes.  I removed the cover “plate” from under the sink where the drain and water lines come to the faucets and sink drain, but with a flashlight and mirror could not see any leaks, nor see any moisture.  The waste tank bilge area is as dry as usual.  No abnormalities that I can see and no odor.  All the ice maker and water heater connections located above, under the bridge cover were dry .

Any similar experiences, thoughts or suggestions?  I may have to remove the wall panel beside the cabin door to the head to gain visual (and work) access ( I think) to the area behind the sink.  Any idea how to do that, if necessary, or better yet any other means of access that would be less “destructive?”

While it hasn't rained, have you washed your boat or could there be enough morning dew to cause the amount of wetness?  If you have washed your boat, it may be leaking at deck fittings or at the rub strip, or the toughest one I've had yet, at the windshield, showing up a good three feet away in the main head (of course they don't always show where they occur).  Since my carver is older, I can't provide advice on removing the panel, I'm sorry to say.

I'm not much help here, but I'm interested in knowing the outcome.
