Commander 38-The 38' Commander was the first model in the Commander fiberglass series. The 38' Commander design was changed in 1971 when the cabin was extended. The 38’ Commander Express proved to be a tremendous success for Chris-Craft resulting in the production of subsequent sedan and sport fisherman models."

Hello all,  I own a 38 Express with 427 power and have done a lot of research on the entire Commander line, having owned my boat for 15+ years and done just about everything on it that can be done. 

For anyone really researching or needing in-depth information on the Commander series, there are two sources of information that have not been mentioned so far, and these are extremely comprehensive in nature.  I am posting this for educational purposes in order to assist anyone who may need or want comprehensive detailed info of this sort.

The first is the book,

This book covers all classic fiberglass Commanders from 19' to 60'.
