Wlee the weekend started off o.k.. But things sure took a turn for the worse. Fired up mystic Diver to do a little diving and fishing. Idling out of the manatee pocket the starboardengine coughed once. Didn't thing too much oof it. got out of the no wak zont, powered up, got on plane and the starboard engine dies. great. right ia the busy crossroads, boats zooming by all over the place. tell wife to take the wheel. I open engine hatch, everything looks ok. pulled off distributer cap, but ti's dry. All looks well. Tell my wife we'll get into open water away from boat trafic so I can go down again. Get through the inlet , motor starts up and runs fine. Push throttles to 3000 rmp no prob. Idle back down, no prob. Trolled around for two hours, no prob. Figured it must have been a little water or dirt in the carb. drift fised for an hour or two. Engine started fine. Except on my last drift. no start. Checked foef seps, no water in fuel. took off flame arrestor, looks like carb is getting fuel. Time to go home. fought the current all the way making about 7 knots. Gets worse. a thunderstorm brewing to th west, the sandbar navy is clearing out fast, zooming by me on both sides doing 60 knots. Make it to the entrance to the manatee pocket, 15 mins. to my slip. Bedlam at the boatramp. vhf radio just anounced severe t-storm warning, 58plus knot winds. wondurfull. a hundred yards to go and it hits. Hard. All I can do to turn into the wind on one engine. Lightning all around. tell wife were goint to tie off on the end of the tee dock with one bow line, got secure, retreat to the cabin to wait it out. wind shreads the canvas of the sailboat nearby. We can hear 1/2" hail beating down on the deck. Wind finnaly lets up,lets make sa break for it. This shouln be fun. apull nex to the slip to try and grab a dock line. miss. back on on engine, push of a boat on the oppsite side, get close enuouge to grab dock line Tie it tight io port stern cleat put port engine in reverse and pivot on the piling. Grab both boew lines and walk boat into slip, tie off, plug in power, have a beer. not a fun sunday. Will trouble shoot engin today, startin with a multi meter check of coil, distributer., Then change fuel filters. Capt Heavy
