Hi folks. I'm new to website and wanted to introduce myself. My wife and I purchased a 1981 Uniflite 36 DC with twin Volvo TAMD60b's about a year or so ago. We are in our early 50's age wise but much younger in heart and mind:) Originally we are from the prairies and have been boating coastal waters for eight years. Our previous (and first) boat was a 23 ft 1973 gas powered Fiberform so it was a bit of a learning curve sizewise moving up to the Uniflite, and I had no experience with diesels, but being a Maintenance Engineer (Power Engineer) and former chopper pilot helped manage the numerous systems. I do all my own maintenance. We are currently moored at French Creek on Vancouver Island and will be cruising the Gulf Islands this summer. We'll be at Pender Island Jazz Festival Sept 19,20,21. We tie up in Nanaimo from October to May. Anyone looking to cruise the Gulf Islands or Desolation Sound and wants to cruise with a couple of Canucks should drop me a line. I should mention we both just finished the Power Squadron course. I'm willing to answer maintenance or other boating related questions. HAVE A GREAT 2008 CRUISING SUMMER!

Welcome aboard. It's good to have someone new on this forum. I'm sure you will find plenty of help and camaraderie. I have a list of members and if you don't mind, I'd like to know the name of your Uniflite.

Welcome Alan!
Looks like we'll be out a little before you this year, but certainly hope to run across you!

Welcome Alan,
Nice to see another new member. I'm mostly in the Inland rivers and Great Lakes area, but might run into at some point in the future if we venture out a bit further. I'm sure I'll be looking to you for some advise in the future, I've got Volvo diesels as well and not much experience. I've got access to quite a few manuals for various systems on my '80 Uniflite so feel free to ask if you can't find something. Once again, welcome to the board!

Welcome Alan!
I'm on the east coast and run gas but I've been working on other systems as well to include replacing fuel tanks this year. Looking forward to sharing info.

Thanks for the warm welcome Shellback22, MV Gizmo, BoatRDavid, B. Jensen. How did you get photos into your signature?
By the way, my boat is named "First Class" by the previous owner who met his wife to be when she was a stewardess for an airline. It was a Washington boat when we bought it. Before it was "First Class" it was "Aquila", and sometime before that "Afternoon Delight". We've been struggling to find another name but no luck yet. We've tossed around a hundred so far! It's a great boat and we can tell that everyone who has owned her has loved her from the care they've given her.
Oh, and I'm going to be doing my first haulout later this spring and will post how the bottom painting etc, went. Should be interesting.

Good job on getting the pic in. I found I had to play around with the size a little until it displayed the way I wanted with my signature.
Nice looking boat!!
