Thinking of buying a 2001 406 Carver.  Any recommendations..Seriosly looked at 396...But this yacht is beautiful and well maintaned by a professional boat owner..

Anything to carefully watch out for on a Survey?

It has 370Hp Mers. Gas--

I owned a 2001 396 with those engines,  it was great at the hull speed, but was unpowered for planing speed. If you are wanting to primarily cruise as if it was a trawler at 8 mph, then you will be very happy.  If you  want to be able to cruise over 20 mph, you need to look at diesels in that size boat.  Just my opinion from my experience in doing the great loop 8,000 miles in the 396 with those engines.

I agree with Capt. gbarger. I had a 2000 450 Carver Voyager with Cummins Twin 450 Diesels and the power was only adequate. 19 knots was all she could do. I traded her in on my current boat just for that reason. A 406 with Gas 370's Fighting a strong current you may as well get out & push. I'd also consider it underpowered and a real chore trying to ever sell.
