My wife and I are seriously considering getting the bottom painted on our boat.  We have a year-round wet slip, and feel that we will use the boat much more if we can bypass the trailer ride/launching/recovering process.  I have the Volvo Penta SX out drive, and would like to know if the drive needs to be painted as well, or if our plan to pull it out of the water every month or so and wash the hull/drive makes painting the drive unnecessary.

Any suggestions, pearls of wisdom out there?

That's not something I'm sure about, but I believe it should be painted.

It's not a boat or engine specific question so you would do better to post it in the regular BoatUS forum.

Thanks for the insight.  I will post in a general forum.
