I am thinking about purchasing a 2004 2470 walk around with a 225 Yamaha 4 stroke outboard with a 8 hp 4 stroke kicker. We would be using the boat mainly for fishing but also for some overnighting for the 2 of us. Any information on this boat would be appreciated. How much would should this boat go for?

If you are in the market for a used boat you may want to buy http://www.powerboatguide.com/

You can use some of the features of the "BUC BOOK" for free at http://www.buc.net/index.cfm?

I'm not sure you will satisfied with the F225 on the 2470 if you plan to run with a load......full fuel......4+ people. I have a a 250 OX66 2s.......and would want nothing less......@ 4000 rpms she runs.....28-29........tops out at 40....but at only 5100 RPM's............midrange....3800-4300....it pulls fine regardless of load.....If you try her out......put 4 people on the boat and see what you think.....boat could probably be had for 38-40K...........I have a 1996......with 2003 power......the boat has been outstanding.....with over 150 offshore trips....still no rattles....electrical system and plumbing are sound.........finish/gelcoat in excellent condition...........I really want a 2870 walk or maybe a 3070.....but may also put a 300 Zuke on the back and keep on going ...........good luck in your pursuit................

I agree about the F225. I'm looking to repower mine with twin F150's. Just doesn't have enough oommph for me. Make sure you check it out loaded! Other than power, I love my 2470!!!

I think this boat is a great deal.  04 with 225, and 8HP kicker with 48 hours on the boat.  66 K.  No trailer.  Right now I have a 238 coastal with twin 150,s. Looking for a boat that is good for trolling and also overnigting with the other.

I have a 2470 Center Console.  I currently have the 250OX66 that tops out at 43-44mph and cruises 4000 at 30mph.  However, I have heard, consistently, that the F225 does not have enough power.  The  four stroke has less torque and is slow to plane and may have trouble holding RPM's in heavy seas.  The 2470 Walk is heavier so the problem will be even worse.  Also, $66k w/o a trailer seems a little high.  I paid $39k for my 5-year old boat last year. Boats are not moving right now and you could probably do better.

Balt. Pursuit -   If you are only getting 5100 out of your OX66 have you considered a different prop?  That motor should be getting 5400-5600 RPM's.  Personally, I would prefer the high side of that as it's less strain on the motor thoughout the power band.

Skidoc.........Concerning the RPM-wheel.......long sory...but I ended up with a LH turn motor....yes I played with 2 different wheels.....you are exactly right...it should have turned up 5400........I found someone who was in need of aLH 250 OX66 and willing to pay a fair price for it...guages, controls oil res.......SO.....it is gone.......and a 300 Suzuki DF300 is going on the transom this week........bottom line...I really like the boat...it is still in excellent shape....looks good..and does about 90% of what I want it to do........expecting the DF300 to run 46-48 at top.........and burn a lot less gas...at a cruise of 32-35........we will see shortly..
