I am buying a 2005 Intrique Doral 31' and I have a question concerning the 2 openings on dashboard. They are permanent and cannot be closed if desired. I was wondering if there were any issues with them and any ideas to cover them if needed. Here are a few of my questions

1- Do they leak when raining either at dock or while driving ?

2- Does it let alot of cold air in in spring & fall seasons ?

3- Are there any ways to install custom snap on canvas or fill in wit fiberglass ?

4- What are the purposes for these things ? I never saw it on any other cruiser..

5- I saw it allows bugs and nats to enter inside. What is purpose of screen and canvas if so ??

Please post any other concerns

Openings below wind shield on dash its the only 2 openings on the boat. The one on starboard side has motor for wind shield wiper the port side is empty . I called Doral and they said a second motor can be added on port side. I just was wondering if anyone had problems with these openings as I listed in my posting..

If it's raining hard and you are headind into the rain/wind then some water will come in.  During the few times that this has happened I would just put a folded up towel over the opening.  I have not had any problems while the boat is docked with water coming in.  I have not noticed any bugs flying in either.  I think the vents are good for air circulation when the boat is all closed up with the canvas.

Thanks for all the replies it gives me piece of mind knowing that it does not affect nor bother you all. One more question concerning cold air does it let enough in to make it colder than it is outside canvas when your driving ??
