Hm, I agree. I have a '83 280. The fiberglass is heavily built due to CC in those years coming up to speed on optimum FB fabrication and on the hull at least, they errored on the side of caution and overbuilt. The Catalinas benifited from a very long design fleshing out period to its great benefit. However, fit and finish was a mass production thing... not bad, but not great either...I surmise your model of interest posseses similar atributes. I hope you'll be able to get 1st hand details on this site. Also check Yachtworld.com and puruse the photos and discriptions of the model in question...might be illuminating.
