 How well does this hull stand up to lumpy seas? What are the problemed areas of this boat?

Hi Bruce,

CC hulls of that time period, 25' thru 40' were pretty much  the same hull type: a Deep 'V' planing type. There are exceptions- yours may be one of those. Is yours spacific-built for fishing? All CC construction of that time frame was very robust- certainly more robust than humans dealing with heavy weather. Crew will give out before the boat does. Planing hulls are not designed for riding heavy weather and are not very sea kindly. Plerase confirm you hull type.

 Hi Roy,

 The CC is a sport fisher, commander style, deep V. The 32' and under CC of this era were not of high quality, the larger boats supposedly were better. I'm in the looking stage of a purchase and was hoping for an owner who could offer some first hand info on the quality and sea keeping of this CC.

Hi Bruce,

 Hm, I agree. I have a '83  280. The fiberglass is heavily built due to CC in those years coming up to speed on optimum FB fabrication and on the hull at least, they errored on the side of caution and overbuilt. The Catalinas benifited from a  very long design fleshing out period to its great benefit. However,  fit and finish was a mass production thing... not bad, but not great either...I surmise your model of interest posseses similar atributes. I hope you'll be able to get 1st hand details on this site. Also check Yachtworld.com and puruse the photos and discriptions of the model in question...might be illuminating.
