Hi! Happy 4th July!

I need to know the proper height for a swim platform on a Chris Craft 28 Catalina above the waterline.I am restoring the boat and platform had been removed.Any help will be appreciated!Roy can you check your 28 and give me a idea? Thanks,Bill

Bill,

10 inches, teak wood slat type. Height is a personal choice and is somewhat based on hardware availible, and where the original mounting holes were located- if any. The highter the platform, the less platform splash/bang you get on the hook. Lower, easier to launch a dink and board from a kayac. If I had my druthers, I would overbuild and install removable fences on the  platform's aft edge. Splash Holes or slats are importent as splash/bang can damage or tare off the platform without some sort of through-holes as the boat pitches.

Hi Roy & Laurie: Hope all is well with you guys in Calif!!!Thanks for the informationI! I already patched up the holes where the old one was  but just didn't want to get it to low  or to high where it didn't work well. A swim platform can really be a life saver if you fall over board.Especially in boats with a high free board. My project is still comming along  slowly going to be nice but nothing like your Crissy.You have the nicest one I have seen and that is a lot of boats. Thanks,Bill
