I have been looking for a 30 sundancer 1986-1989, so far i have found that the transom have been very loose-I can actually rock it back and forth about 1/2"-1" is this a typical problem found on these sundancer because of the transom door to the swim platform takes away from the rigidity. If it is a common problem is there a repair that wont cost a lot of $$$$$$ to repair. Also, these boats have fold down jumpseats is there any concerns I should look at with these type of seats. Thanks for the help.

    • hey there good luck looking. i have an 85 300 s/d my transom will not move like that. it dose have small stress cracks on the bottom conner. may be on its way as for the jump seats last year i took my seat apart recovered and rebuilt some of the frame still would just let small people sit there. and the bench seat in the back i would add a 3 leg like did. your profile dint show where your from but if your near Vermont i would be happy to show what my wife and i have done with ours? good luck from Paul & Shari

I just bought a 1988 Sundancer 268 and had a prepurchase survey. The surveyer told me that many of these boats have moisture problems in the transom or have already had their transoms replaced.  Evidently the transom has a balsa wood core.

I hope this is not your issue.
