I purchased Shepdogs 2002 310 about 1 and 1/2 years ago. It came with a Navman fuel flo meter and soon after I was bragging about the great fuel milage I was getting. Those on the forum quickly shot me down as not knowing what I was talking about! Seems I was trusting a meter that was not properly calibrated. I went out yesterday and was sucessful in getting "part" of the job done(starboard eng complete) Used 4 gallon of fuel in just less than 15 miles. Calculates out at 3.5MPG that would mean I should get 1.75 MPG @ 3200RPM and 30MPH for both engines. I have to go back to the boat to check my notes on the time to calculate GPH. Although I believe that means @ 30mph I burn 8 gallons with both engines, thus 8GPH@ cruise. 166gallon tank, around 20 hours running means appr. 600 miles. With 5.7 Duoprop Volvos, how does that stack up with others experence? Seems darn good to me. Expect to get out soon and recalibrate the port eng. to be sure.
Sorry, Larry...I hope you won't be hitting me for a warranty claim!
I hope your entire family is enjoying the Doral...we truly miss her!
Please give Cecilia our best and I hope you both have a great summer
