I have a new 2006 340 Sundancer....when I took delivery of the boat last fall, there were a few small stress cracks in visible area's like under the windshield and near the swim platform. The marina fixed them over the winter and they looked great but now a couple have reappeared in the same spots.

Is this something I should be concerned about or am I just being too fussy with the boat?

its nothing to be worried about, but they could only get worse. Sea Ray offers a lifetime hull and deck warranty on all fiberglass and gelcoat issues when it comes to spider cracks and all. The dealership will fix it. If it did the same thing, then they may have not fixed it right.

Its nothing urgent, but you should get them fixed so they dont get worse. Especially on a boat as nice as a 340, you dont want spider cracks.

P.S. You should be picky and fussy about these things on your boat.

I have the same problems you encountered with my 06 24' Sundeck
that I bought new this year. Both spider and stress cracks. It really
freaked me out since there are quite a few stress cracks. They are
scheduled to be repaired once the season is over. Let's stay in touch re
this issue.

Too much stress in too small an area.  Make sure they use backing plates on the cleats/windscreen hold down points or the repair is merely cosmetic and will reappear.

Stress crack update. A total of 35 stress cracks have now been
identified on my 06 24' Sundeck. Sea Ray wants to fix them but I'm
holding off for a better solution. The get coat is not under warrenty for
life. The company offered to extend the warrenty until Sept 08 on the
gel coat. My issue is if there is that much damage in the gel coat there
is no guarantee the cracks won't return. Stay tuned.

A better solution than getting the stress cracks fixed?  What would you hold out for? A new boat with other issues? 

Get your boat fixed, if you don't they (Sea Ray) will have cause not to fix your boat in the future after they (Sea Ray) made good faith efforts to handle your problem.

When I went to the Sea Ray dealer meeting in Knoxville this past summer, they addressed this issue. They said the reason that so many stress cracks are showing up around where screws and bolts are is because they are not counter-sinking the holes when they drill the holes. As for the stress cracks just on the jelcoat not coming out of where scres and bolts are....I dont know. But I know they THEY know its an issue. They told us they are now counter-sinking all screwes in the gelcoat and looking for a solution for other stress cracks. I know with some colored gelcoats work better than other gelcoats. From what I've seen, the pearl is what does it the most.
