Doral Prestancia 2005  Problem with salt water in portside Engine bay, after 100 hour service. The boat was also de winterized. Warranty runs out end of next month. Could it be leaking from the out side in or from the Sea Water cooling system.. I only bought the boat a few months ago used twice.. How does this effect the warranty if I am the 2nd owner and the boat is less than 2 years old.. Anyone had the same problem.

Keith

Although i bought mine new, so didnt have any warrantee transfer problems, i know of someone who bought a Doral used (2-3 years old).  He had good luck working directly with Doral who stood behind their product and authorized locale dealer to do repairs.

Give them a call if youre not getting satisfaction locally.

Good luck

From what I understand, there's a fee involved to transfer the warranty?

As far as your warranty claim, as long as you REPORT the problem before the warranty ends they'll cover it for sure.  So make sure you make your claim now. If it ends up being a larger problem they many times cover it anyway even if "out of warranty".  Doral does seem to stand behind their product very well.

Now, back to your problem, I think you need to narrow down your options.  First thing to figure out:  Does your water appear only after you've run the engines, or even after the boat has been sitting in the slip w/o the engines running? If it's only after you run the engines, it could be as simple as a loose drain plug on the block or manifold, or a loose hose.  If so, sit down there while the engine is running and look for the leak.

I had a similar problem when I bought the boat, but it was harder to track. It happnened only after we took the boat out cruising. If at the slip there was no water, no matter whether we ran the engines or not...  It was the drain from the fender holder at the platform wasn't connected properly to the through hull, so that water drained into the bilge when we get off plane and had saltwater washing over the platform and into the fender holder.

I have reported the problem to my Local Doral Dealer, but there after sales service is mutch to be desired. I have been calling them every day for 2 weeks. Someone is supposed to get back to me..  I did check all the pipes this morning and tightened up a few, it is very difficult to see where the leak is comming from because it's a slow leak and you cant see a drip. I think from some where to right hand side at the back of the engine, which is unaccessable unless you take the electric hood off. Or if I get someone to hold the hood while I remove the pole which will allow me to slide  round over the hot water system. I cant think of any other way of reaching that area.

Will try again tomorrow..
