I need to buy a waterski boat for my grandchildren and their parents.  I'm considering the Bayliner 175 (135HP IO).  Will this boat pull up 2 skiers? one on a single ski? Any problems with tis el cheapo?

I have had a 1950 (now called a 195 discovery) with the 135 hp 3.0l engine and have puleed 3 skiers without too much strain getting them up.  Once up there is no problem at all.  We kept our boat for 8 years before uprgrading to a new 205.  Bayliners are very good quality boats despite what some buyers of more expensive boats may say.  I think that sometimes they see the price and quality of Bayliners and are upset at how much they spent for basically the same boat.

For what it's worth I have a Bayliner with a Force 120 4-banger outboard and it could pull one skier no problem.  Not sure about 2.  But it has alot more power then I would have originally thought possible out of a small engine like this.

One thing to think about is how many people will be in the boat....  I originally thought about the 175 but when I  went and looked this weekend it is obviously a smaller more compact boat.  We decided on the 185 just for the size and upgraded to the 190...although we haven't gone back to buy we have pretty much made up our mind about it.

Good luck with the purchase and your grandkids are lucky to have grandparents to but the family a boat!!!
