Hi Mates: I am in process of cleaning the old bottom paint off my old 280CC and have been sand blasting it off by sand blasting with a small home blaster and 80 grit sanding. I have only lightly cut the gelcoat and have only found what I thought was very small blisters. DUE TO THE BOAT BEING ON LAND FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS ALL THE PIN SIZE BLISTERS LOOK DRY AND ARE TIGHT TO THE HULL.
Can I leave the gelcoat on and follow the pre wash with solvent and apply the epoxy barrier coat. I don't want to strip the gelcoat off.I have been really careful with the sand blaster .Quick as I see the gelcaot I no longer blast the are and them sand with 80 grit till all old fouling paint is gone and gelcaot is clean.
When this is complete I would wash according and then applt Interlux 2000E and then bottom anti fouling paint.
Hope I made this clear! Thanks,Bill Smith
