Hi everyone.  I searched a number of forums and have had no luck.  I have a 1996 Sundancer 270 and lost the key to the cabin entry lock.  I can't find anyone who has a replacement available but would like to fix it.  Anyone have any ideas?  I want to keep it stock if at all possible.  Please help.  email me at madmachines@sjgcc.com if you have any suggestions.  Thanks.

I agree with Dave SR. If you go to your local dealer they should have no problem ordering or making one on the spot based on your HIN. This should work just like with cars.

A locksmith should be able to make you a new key by disassembling the lock and making a key to fit the tumblers. Or, a locksmith would be able to change the tumblers and re-key the lock.

 

I would call a locksmith and ask him/her what to do.

 

If you have insurance, it might be covered under insurance, but, that might raise your premiums over what the locksmith would charge in the first place.

Hello,

As a side note, I just read an article in the BoatUS magazine that says you should really install a deadbolt on all boat doors to reduce crime.  Sounds good, but how do you install a deadbolt on a sliding boat door that slides into the bulkhead?

Has anyone managed to install any kind of locking system that is better than the factory default?
