Hi Maycraft 23 Pilot House owners. I am looking for information a 2006 23 foot Maycraft pilot house. The dealer in my area (Coastal Monmouth cnty New Jersey) has a few left over with a 200 hp Evinrude 2 stroke.

How is the boat handle with 12 degree deadrise in a following sea ? Inlet chop ?

With a 20 knot North east blow ?

How is the quality of this manufacturer ?

Any Wood in the construction ? Is the cockpit floor strong and durable.

Gelcoat quality ?

Service bulletins

Wiring quality ?

Stainless steel quality ?

Thank you for the info.

Well I never own one. But I was at the AC boat show. One thing I can tell you I could not find the head. I would make sure it has one. I like the Parker the best for the money. And it had a head nice size for big guys. Motors are somethig you might want to check out. I like Yamaha very quietnever a problem . I have owned Evinrude was a good motor. I think 4 stroke in the long run would be better. Less smoke longer life. 2strokes are being fazed out, due to pollution and emissions.  The boat seems to be under powered 225 or 250 would be my choice.  Is this boat NMMA certified. Well thats just my 2 cents. Good Luck!!

Hi I have a 2007 2300 PH and love it. Took delivery in Aug. It has a Yamaha 225 4 stroke. Plenty of power and VERY quiet. Top speed about 45mph in the bay.

There was never any problems going in and out of Beach Haven Inlet.

As for a head, you get what you pay for. Do you want to fish or $hit? There is plenty of room in the cabin for a porty potty if you really need one.

The only problem that I had is in the dual wipers which sometimes do not turn off, and Maycraft (Chad May) has been very unresponsive to my questions. Note: Maycraft is a small mom/pop operation. And the dealer has been no help either, even though he claims that he has had the same problem during a boat show and had to pull the wire.

I was very impressed with the workmanship on this boat (ie referenced to the price.) The fit, finish and wire dressing are very good. Make sure you go with the Armstrong bracket! Worth the price and keeps water from flowing over the transom into the boat.
