The lower pivot on my Bristol 29.9 is loosened from swinging to far in a storm.  Anyone know the specs--the way that pivot is fiberglassed into the keel? Seen it in a manual?  Done the repair?

Are you a member of the Bristol Yacht forum on Yahoo?  there are a lot of knowledable fellows on this site.  I would check there.  Go to Goups on Yahoo and search for the Bristol Yacht Forum, or,  repost and I will provide it for you.

Dave,

I own a Bristol 29.9 and had a yard in California rebuild my rudder system completely.  It had frozen up from lack of lubrication.  The stock tube did not have any method of lubricating it.  To get the rudder off the skeg you have to remove the quadrant and all bolts there to allow he rudder to be lifted off the pin on the skeg.  In my case the rudder was stuck so they had to grind away the glass on the sides of the skeg where there is a drift pin glassed in place to keep the pin in place.  If you have to replace the pin you will also have to do this.

I may have some photos somewhere but any yard should be familiar with how to remove the rudder.
