Well, I replaced the fuel pump, but I have a question just to make sure I did it right.

The question concerns the internal "arm".

I had to push up the "cylinder" on the inside of the block, to allow the fuel pump "arm" to slide underneath (where it was almost at the bottom of the cylinder tube.

Is this correct? I ASSUME that the pump works by the cylinder PUSHING down on the arm, which probably makes a vaccuum, forcing fuel up to the carb. I guess I am uneasy, because I could push the cylinder all the way up to the top of the opening with my finger. Does the rod that pushes it come down all the way towards the bottom of the fuel pump arm housing?

I just want to make sure it's gonna start in the spring.

Probably a stupid question, but I've never done one before.

Also, I had to drain the block to remove / install the fuel pump. Should I refill it with AF (Automotive type, closed system) or just fill it up in the spring and not worry about it this winter?
