Hello to all,

     I would like to introduce myself and our 1978 34' Sport "TOMCAT". We picked her up late December of 05 as our second boat and love her. Moored in Portage bay in Seattle, she has already taken us (Me, my wife, daughter 5, son 2, and our dog 50#) through the SanJauns, Gulf Islands, as for North as Desolation sound and Jervis Inlet, "wow that was a mouthful". Shes a dusty faded old lass with the original brown vinyl Uniflite helm chair in the salon, but her structure and basics are solid as a rock. We are in the process of having both 270 Crusaders rebuilt (3500 original hrs ) and getting rid of the shag lt blue carpet so we can run her North again summer of 07. We looked and looked, and could not find a more solid well laid out boat for even twice the cost. We are looking forward to helping her catch up on a few years of neglected maintanance so she will shine as proud as she should.

Welcome, good to have you aboard!

What' wrong with the engines?  That's not many hours on them.  Being up in Sattele sounds lile you're in my shoes over here on the Eastern side.  We're out of the water till spring.  No ice yet, but it's cold.

Moored, most likely, near you on Portage Bay (SYC).  Have also enjoyed the same cruising grounds as you over the past 25 years in three different boats.

My Uni sat out in the rain and you-know-what for 3 years before we bought her, so I'm pretty well aware of what you may be facing.

    Before our purchase, she spend 6 years as a part time livaboard for a tug engineer at Elliot bay marina (Seattle waterfront). Although well kept there was a lack of annual maintanance. Prior to that she came from Sitka, AK. The colder weather has been good for the historical "Blister" problem, but she has suffered some pretty harsh environments. We hope to clean her up as new over the next few years. Its nice to look at the forums to see what people have been able to do.

    Ron the engines were suffering to many calander days without maintanance, I found signs that they both still had the original risers on them. I checked them out during the purchase survey to discover they had low compression, and hey who dosn't like fresh engines anyway.

    So Dave "Gizmo" we are currently moored at the Boat Street Marina due North of you behind the UW hospital, (for those East of us, its about 500m +/-). I think I've seen your boat, I always have an eye out for clean Uniflites. I would love to see a photo that exposes your Radar mast better, I'm thinking of installing something similar on our boat but I havent been able to find any good visuals to compare styles with.

   Presently she's tied at the dock with her engines out and the carpet ripped up, "not a photo worthy shot". I'll try to find a photo we took of her anchored at Chatterbox falls this last summer to post, "worn seaworthy and proud".

Dave,  To make the photo smaller change the pixel size.  To see what size you want just "right click" on any of our photos you like the size of.  Go to proprieties and see the pixel size.

Ted,

I know exactly where you are moored.  "Hello, neighbor!"

The mast is a nice accessory to Giz.  The previous owner had the mast custom designed and built by Vector Marine in Sidney BC.  It is also hinged in the middle and supported by two gas shocks so I can lower it down to fit into my covered moorage.

I still owe Ron D. a bunch of photos of the interior, so i'll get busy with the camera and get some shots of the mast as well.

Down 10 post to PascalG dated January 21,2005 @1:53 PM.

Down load this program PascallG posted.  Resize your photo (ie. right click on mine go to properities.  It will show you my photo size in pixels.  Set it to the size you want and re link it in your signature.

Let me know if you have troubble.  Last resort... go to Terri's post (last on on page 2, and ask her if she will resize it.
