My 1986 3207 does not have air conditioning installed, but when I purchased, the seller said that it was supposed to have been installed when ordered, but buyer changed their mind. Currently there is a factory thru hull (capped off now), but no air. Question is.. where did they locate the factory air (maybe engine compartment?) and where did they route the duct work? Im interested because I would like to add air this winter and could use any installation advise for this model and vintage carver.  Thanks in advance.

We have an 85 3207 with two factory airs. Aft system is under the port bed just aft of the fuel tank. Forward system is in the cabinetry next to the frig. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.  I have installed the unit (mermaid 16500) under the cabinet next to the refrig. Ran the duct work between the port wall and liner back to the aft cabin, and forward to the v-berth. Received most of the info on Boatfix message board, and as you can see, not many replys on this board other than yours. But thanks for the info.

I bought my 3207 used with a 12,500 btu Mermaid (installed exactly as sea of dreams states).  I think I need to clean the filter, but I think the unit is too small for this boat as a single unit.  Let me know how the 16.5k unit cools on the hottest days.

Also, to all, where do you have your condensation piped?

Should have the boat in May 1st, and will let you know how the 16500 does in July and August. Also, I purchased a "condensator" available from Mermaid to pull the condensation from the drain pan into the discharge hose. Check Mermaid's site, and you will see how it works.

Thanks for the condensator info, Hank.  I'll check it out.  I don't like my unit draining into the foward bilge.  We should be going in the first week of April.  Yes, it is early (Lake Michigan), but I try to be LOFI - last out first in.

I have used the mermaid 16.5 that I installed this past winter. The weather this past week has been in the 90's and we spent a full week on the boat. The 16.5 mermaid held the temp at 73 without any problem, the condensator kept the bildge dry. I am very happy with my choice.
