Hello every one.

If you have a River Queen then you most likely have heard of me. I have a rather extensive web page depicting our trials and tribulations of a complete refit. We still have a long way to go...  Complete refits are not uncommon with River Queen boats and many people in the same boat (pun) write to me. Some have become good friends. We also have a River Queen Registry so we can log your RQ on the RQ tree.

Please feel free to come see my web page "The River Queen Refit" and share your stories and pictures in the RQR (River Queen Registry)

I'm looking forward to talking to you.  Boat safely!

Hi Mike,

Well now that winter is fast approaching perhaps we could talk about winterization tricks for RQ's. I realize you have no concept of snow or cold, well maybe; I do recall you telling me that you had to wear your coat once because it got down to 80f LOL

But here in Michigan the frost is almost on the pumpkin, and at our marina theirs about 150 boats on the hard. Last year we stayed in the water until the second week of December, I was winterizeng in the snow - not this year.

One trick we have is to use 1/2" foam rope sealant from any big box hardware store, you get about 50' for $10.00. We push it into the cracks of all the deck hatches this way it helps keep the water, leaves and snow out of the bottom of the boat.

This year I'm also planning on placing a big tarp on the bow to shed the rain and snow. I'll tuck it under the roof and extend it over the bow rails, keeping it taunt will be the trick otherwise it will just sag and collect all the yuck that I don't want!

More later,

Scott
