Hi, I just bought a 2015, 242 Limited S. I am very excited and looking
forward to warmer weather to enjoy it. Does anyone has any
advice/information or feedback, good or bad about this type of boat.
Jet engines are new to me, but so far, I like them. I am looking
forward to sharing information and experiences with you all. Happy
boating!

Congratulations on your new 242! I have boated since 1964 and my 2006 (purchased new) SX230HO is the best and most reliable boat I've ever owned.
Now, some words of caution: even with the 242's re-designed steering, your boat will not be as responsive at low speeds when maneuvering as a boat is with a propeller. There will be some drift and you must anticipate your moves in advance. Practice in a safe area and you will soon become an expert.
Change the oil once a season (I also change the plugs as they're cheap enough) and winterize the engines properly and you will never have an issue. Stay away from the forum posts where people use different oils and spark plugs. Use the parts specified by the manufacturer including the Yamalube oil. AND ADD THE YAMAHA FUEL TREATMENT TO YOUR FUEL! Some will say that its too expensive, and yes, its not cheap, but an ounce treats 10 gallons, and if these folks advocate other fuel treatments, ignore them. If they can't afford proper maintenance then they shouldn't be boat owners.
Purchase the full cover that is sold on the Yamaha page www.yamaha-motor.com, its half the price of a custom cover and fits perfectly, quick on and quick off. Your finish will stay new-looking forever. Wax the boat in the Spring and in the fall, and use (expensive, again) the 3M cleaner wax in the spray bottle for touch-ups during the season. Have a great time and feel free to reach-out anytime.
