  Greetings,

I have a 1989 3486 Convertible purchased new, with 454's.  Have had no carb issues with 2500 hours on both engines. What are your problems, or questions.

Frank,

I twin quada jets.  I had them rebuilt and they were completely screwed up.  The fuel comsumption was unbelievable so I replaced them with Edelbrock and the boat doesn't run like it should and the fuel economy is terrible.  I sent the quadra jets to Evergreen carburetors in Everett, Washington.  I replaced the Edelbrocks with the rebuilt quadra jets and will see how they run, but the weather in Alaska hasn't been that great so I haven't really been able to see how they work.

Thanks for the reply.

Jim

  Jim,

Sounds like a frustrating problem.  Never had to touch the carbs, other than a yearly cleaning of them.  Hope that you get it solved.  I love my boat, and its layout.  Use  it for fishing and live aboard it on weekends from April till November, with 5 people on board.  I planned on purchasing this boat as a 1990 model, but when I found that it was being discontinued, jumped to look for a 1989.  At time of purchase I wanted diesels, but there was not a new boat in the country with them in them.  Settled on the 20K savings, and put it into buying gas!!

I try to keep up with repairs, and plan on growing old with this boat.  Go to yearly boat shows, and always return home happy with what I have.  When you look a prices to buy a new larger boat with the same great cockpit, flybridge,  and two staterooms, the price  way north of 400K!!

Good Morning:

My 2001, Bayliner  2856 Command Bridge is a great fishing and cruising boat, Iíve got the Bravo III duel prop out-drive and the 310 hp fuel injected engine. (No problems with the fuel changes). It cruises for ever at 25 mph, top speed 38 mph. Iím amazed at the fuel economy. I customized radar arch and fly bridge, I also added a bow thruster. The boat loves the New England water; itís high, dry, stable and fast plus very comfortable to cruise in because of the duel-control stations.

Matt
