My 21' 1987 Sea Ray Monaco (I purchased in 2003) leaks under the windows.  I've tried everything from silicone caulk to duct tape, all along the joint between the boat and the windshield/side windows, and even on the joins between the glass and the window frame, but nothing seems to stop it.  Even in light rains, water soon appears inside along the bottom edge of both side windows, near the windshield.  It collects then runs toward the stern and usually drips down into the boat somewhere amidships.  It could just be a shoddy windshield on my boat but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced the same problem?

We have a 1983 Aft cabin that had several windshield and window leaks.  I will ask my husband what he fixed it with because he finally used something that worked!  No more leaks.  I think it was what is used for car windshields-black caulk.  He took the window apart on the inside also and caulked then replaced the inside trim.  Outside he just carefuly caulked I believe.  If you need more info, let us know.

Thanks for the reply.  I think I found the main leak source.  The SR runabout, at least mine, has a "water collector" just outside and under the center (opening) window.  It's immediately aft of the cuddy hatchway and any rain falling on the bow near the windshield collects in this depression and then runs along the windscreen (inside) till it hits the side windows then it runs back along the sides, sometimes dripping in amidships, which causes no real harm except it gets things wet, but sometimes it will run over and down behind the gauge cluster and drip in around the wires and/or into the locker under the helm.  Obviously, this latter can be a real problem.

I built a little "wall" of sealant on each side of the center window opening, which will hopefully keep the water from entering and running down the sides.  This problem will manifest itself in every SR with a bow design similar to mine, and I'm surprised that it hasn't become more of an issue!
