Hi folks, I sail an '86 Catalina 27 and use chain for the first 15 ft of anchor line.  It's beginning to damage the gelcoat as it runs out of the anchor locker to the bowsprit.  Any suggestions for saving the gelcoat?  Seems like ther ought to be something that could be put there to both look good and protect the boat.  Surely the answer isn't ductape.

Seahorse,

On my boat (Sabre), there is a hard plastic (not sure just what type
of plastic) plate between the windlass and the anchor roller. It was
installed by the dealer.

I noticed West Marine doesn't carry one, probably because decks on
various makes and model boats are all different. My guess is the one
on my deck was made by the dealership with a jigsaw. You couild
contact your Catalina dealership or call Catalina directly at 818-884
-7700.
